Is a unique, one of a kind piece of art. If you own an original painting you are the only person on the planet to have that piece of art in its original form. Original paintings by Ed Little are designed, created and painted by Ed Little. They exist as the source of all copies and reproductions. Unless otherwise indicated, original paintings by Ed Little are in oil on stretched canvas (linen canvas primed with gesso attached to a wooden frame) or painted on primed canvas glued to an acid free base, or painted on a primed wooden surface. Original oil paintings are coated with a protective layer of varnish.
The oil painting technique has been around since the 15th century, first utilized by the Dutch, so oil paintings exist that are 600 plus years old. If the painting was created using stable, non fading oil pigments - as mine are - and is varnished and well treated it can last at least 600 years!
Oil paintings are incredible durable, lasting hundreds of years. Do NOT place the painting in direct sunlight and avoid storage in extreme heat or cold. The painting you receive is varnished to further protect the oil color pigments, it does NOT need to be protected behind glass. However caution should be used handling the painting - do NOT push against the canvas either from the back or front to avoid cracking the paint surface. The surface of the varnished oil painting can be wiped with a dry cloth to remove dust. Giclee
printing is a fancy term concocted to classify any professionally
produced print that uses inkjet technology and archival grade (long
lasting, non fading) inks. While the process is only several decades
old, it has quickly become the method of choice for both artists and
photographers.
To
extend the life-span, store/display you giclee fine art print out of
direct sunlight and avoid extreme temperature changes or exposure to
humidity. It is recommended that paper prints be framed behind glass or
acrylic glazing when ultimately on display.
